Detained at her majesty’s pleasure (Part Four)

Ramblings from a prison cell

When confronted with the loss of choice over many of my physical movements I discovered and valued my freedom of my mind. I could be ordered to stand up, walk, stop, sit and be handcuffed but I always had control of my own mind.

NIGHTS ALIVE!

Waves of mist over white cliffs crash,

Foaming torrents onto black sands dash,

Wild winds howl, tall trees dance,

Herds of deer along valleys prance.

Running free beyond any control,

Blood flows warm through heart and soul,

Singing sweetly the Dolphins dive,

The moon’s lit up and the night’s alive!

WILL YOU?

If I tell you I visit streets strange lands overnight,

Traveling in silence at the speed of light,

Will you still play my music?

Will you still sing my songs?

Will you come with me now where no darkness belongs?

One step higher,  We’ll go floating away, Come with me darling, Together we’ll play.

If I tell you there’s somewhere no fear can survive,

Come take my hand in no time we’ll arrive,

Will you pull back the covers?

Will you stay warm in bed?

Will you sleep all alone?

With the doubt in your head?

One step higher,  We’ll go floating away, Come with me darling, Together we’ll play.

If I show you the place where young stars are born,

On the Christmas tree lights on a bright yellow lawn,

Will you dress up in sparkles?

Will you dance with our  host?

Will you turn back and run?

Are you scared of the ghost?

One step higher, We’ll go floating away, Come with me darling, Together we’ll play.

FREEDOM STILL

After lights go out,

My body sleeps but my mind travels,

I can go to where I’m safe and happy,

no tickets, no passports, no visas needed.

I’m free.

HOME IN HAWAII

I’d been living in the jungles of the Big Island exposed to the extremes of nature. I felt at home with  elements like the wind, torrential rain, lightening storms, tropical heat and lava flows. I learned to be humble and in awe of the powers of the earth. Here in a concrete and steel cage life was another extreme but I could still reminisce about my other life.

PELE – TOO HOT TO HANDLE

No one remembers the first time she came

See her once and you’ll remember her name

A passionate power with a burning touch

She’ll turn a cold shoulder if you demand too much

chorus

She’s a mystical mistress, a madam in red,

Compulsively calling, her glow warms my head,

She’s just too hot to handle and will always be free,

I’m blinded in love but she’s too hot for me.

She explodes with great anger and can make the earth shake,

She twists all around like Eve’s evil snake,

Scene stealer and thief in the pitch black of night,

Through dark forests her beauty burns charcoal bright.

chorus

She’s a mystical mistress, a madam in red,

Compulsively calling, her glow warms my head,

She’s just too hot to handle and will always be free,

I’m blinded in love but she’s too hot for me.

She walks away and meanders for miles,

Watched by the moon she swoons as she smiles,

A mythological queen she dances in clouds,

While majestically blushing she waves to the crowds.

chorus

She’s a mystical mistress, a madam in red,

Compulsively calling, her glow warms my head,

She’s just too hot to handle and will always be free,

I’m blinded in love but she’s too hot for me.

UNIVERSAL DEVOTION

Sunrise peeping over the edge of the ocean,

Lights global juggling in perpetual motion,

She rub sit all over like calamine lotion,

It’s her trick, it’s a show, it’s a magic potion.

Earth erupts with a red-hot black splatter,

creations seeds grows fatter and fatter,

East chases west turning night into day,

Catch a falling star for an action replay.

Man in the moon watching over the earth,

Smiling on down for all that he’s worth,

Back to front he whirls and twirls,

Perhaps he’s a she just look at those curls.

Cosmic confusion’s a mess without order,

No boundaries, no customs, no international border,

Infinity shapes, planetary travel,

No strings attached for us to unravel.

Constellations and patterns fill our sky

They hover and flutter away they fly

Shooting stars sparkling high overhead

One cosmic mistake and it all turns red.

As a child of the '60's with a wanderlust spirit I just followed my dreams and opportunities as they arose. My journey took me to some of the brightest and darkest places imaginable. I met amazing people on the way, some were famous and some are infamous. Some are just great friends with stories that blended with mine as we traveled together on land, on the sea and in the sky. We all share the renegade spirit !
